PREAMBLE
Ahead of my dream to be President of NAHSAG, I have spent
the previous administrative years gearing up to construct a blueprint to
chatter a course for the union.
This document will highlight the 3P’s – policies, programs
and projects intended for the realisation of the mission of the National Health
Students Association (NAHSAG) borne out of the PFFPAgenda.
‘None of us alone can save the nation or world. But each of
us can make a positive difference if we commit ourselves to do so’ – Cornel
West
OVERVIEW
The PFFPAgenda is without limitation coined around 3
important disciplines of the union: CONTINUITY, BRANDING, GROWTH. Summary of
strategies to achieving this includes:
- To give the union a
strategic direction and focus toward consolidating our achievements and
strengthening our weaknesses to ultimately realize our vision. Develop a 5
year strategic plan. This will capture thoughts shared with stakeholders
at all levels to produce a SMART policy document.
- Ensure a rigorous drive of
the solutions for the resolutions of the plights of students and graduates
through use of the most appropriate channels, methods, persons and modes.
- Constantly and succinctly
engage stakeholders and policy makers on matters affecting healthcare
delivery and training in the country. Join discussions that bother on
health and wellbeing. Offer constructive analysis and give policy
direction to stakeholders.
- Conduct and publish
researches research – NAHSAG as a centre
of reference
- Establish an alumni
association. This will help redefine the NAHSAG history by reengineering
its operations today, so we can leave a worthy legacy for the succeeding
future. This will be achieved by establishing stronger bonds with past
executives, alumni and reviving a vibrant spirit of belongingness in them.
- Spearhead a vibrant press
and information desk and a working database. Ensure an updated interactive
website.
- Institute the Permanent
Secretariat
- Establish strong, lasting
affiliations with government agencies, NGO’s, entrepreneurial bodies.
Media relations and national recognition.
- Organise unitary and/or
partnered voluntary community outreach programs
- Career building fora,
leadership seminars. Embarking on institutional sensitisation tours and
visitations is a hallmark in this regard. Member capacity building for
National Officers, Bloc Heads, Member institutions
